Stevie Smith

Inspired by Stevie Smith’s Poem “Not Waving but Drowning”  The Waterfields is a novel about the conflicts between choice and freedom.

From the moment Stephen leaves his London home and arrives in Havana he is drawn into the haunting past of a modern Cuban family and their world of secrets, hope, betrayal and desperation.

“It’s a strange crop I’ve planted out there in The Waterfields,” Ulysses, the old fisherman reveals to Stephen, forcing him to confront the women he loves and his own reality.

A story about love and friendships that journey into the fragility of life and the cost of freedom.
