Kirk Houghton was born in Bangor, Northern Ireland. Studying music, Spanish and accountancy he achieved his degree from OxfordBrookes England, later becoming an affiliate member of the ACCA while working as an accountant in Dublin. He successfully ran his own sports training and retail business, combining his interest in sailing and diving. He has lived and travelled in over fifteen countries including Cuba.
Sailing long distance Kirk began to develop his enjoyment of writing. Based on his own experience in Cuba and the stories of others, he wrote his first novel –The Waterfields. Working freelance he continues to travel with his partner, Elisa. Kirk is also completing his second novel.
